World Card Making Day was this past Saturday and card makers around the world gathered in person and online. Familiarity with this event grows each year as crafters grab hold of a day that celebrates and acknowledges what we do - some of us as a hobby and some of us for a living. I participated this year by practicing; yep you guessed it, watercolor among other things.
I shared a glimpse online of what I was creating and I was happily surprised at the response I received from the crafting community. So many people I didn't know shared the day with me. Making connections these days is so important. We all enjoy the benefits of the digital age but I worry that we may lose touch with some of the most important people in our lives. This is why I still value snail mail and send handmade cards. It is fun to wish someone happy birthday over the web, but imagine their joy when they receive a handmade birthday card in the mail, that can be displayed and kept as a memento. Stampability’s shop has handmade cards for so many occasions. Take a few minutes today to pick out a few that you can send to brighten someone's day; for an occasion, or no occasion at all.
