I am fascinated with watercolor these days - partly because I am relatively new to it. I find the magic that happens when paint or ink hits the water, so exciting! Touch a brush to wet paper and POOF, there it goes with a mind of its own. Most of my watercolor experience has been with paints but recently I tried it with refill ink (for an ink pad). I simply put a few drops of ink in a dish, wet my brush and picked up a bit of ink. I touched the brush to wet watercolor paper and POOF, just as with paint! For this background I chose one color and let the water bring out the different shades of green. Occasionally I'd pick up a little more ink and dab a bit to the paper, the water did the rest.
What a fun and simple way to create a beautiful background! How much are you using watercolor? Have you experimented with both paint and ink? If so, do you have a preference? I'd love to see your feedback in the comments below.
